Combine terms with Westlaw-style operators in the Search Text box. A bare query without operators (e.g. breach of contract) is matched as a single phrase, just like before.

Operator	Example	Meaning
`AND` or `&`	`negligence AND damages`	Both terms must appear.
`OR`	`assault OR battery`	Either term may appear.
`NOT` or `%`	`damages NOT punitive` `damages % punitive`	First term present, second term absent.
`"…"`	`"breach of contract"`	Match the exact phrase.
`*`	`negligen*`	Root expansion. Matches `negligent`, `negligence`, `negligently`…
`!`	`wom!n`	Single-character wildcard. Matches `woman`, `women`.
`( )`	`(assault OR battery) AND defendant`	Group sub-expressions to control precedence.
`/n`	`dog /3 cat`	Terms appear within n words of each other (any order).

Tips

Operators are case-insensitive — AND, and, and & all work.
Precedence is NOT > /n > AND > OR. Use parentheses when in doubt.
Adjacent terms with no operator imply AND only when other operators are present (otherwise the whole input is treated as a single phrase).
/s (same sentence) and /p (same paragraph) are not yet supported.
